Jazz South Commissions - Radar and Breakthrough

Two schemes in 2020-21 supported 14 composers who are based in the Jazz South region to create new work.

Jazz South Radar Commissions

10 awards of up to £1,250 were offered to composers at all career stages to create new pieces of original music for up to three performers. These were digitally broadcast in late 2020, generating inspiration and new material for live performances and touring in the future.

Jazz South Breakthrough Commissions

4 awards of up to £3,000 were offered to early career composers. Supported by a package of mentoring, each selected composer created a new piece for digital broadcast from a venue in the Jazz South region in 2021.
