Hexagonal online: http://hexagonal.org.uk/

Hexagonal, from Hastings, play high energy live music with African and jazz influences. Lauded saxophonist Jason Yarde worked with McCoy Tyner, while pianist John Donaldson and bassist Simon Thorpe toured with South African musician Bheki Mseleku. Their music celebrates the music of these two jazz piano icons along with original tunes. It is difficult not to dance to this upbeat band which brings great vitality to their live performances.

‘Full of imaginative arrangement details, powerfully and precisely delivered, with everyone playing up an absolute storm. Catch them live if you can.’ (Eddie Myer, Jazzviews)

John Donaldson – piano, Jason Yarde – alto sax, Greg Heath – tenor sax/flute, Simon Thorpe – bass, Tristan Banks – drums, Graham Flowers or Quentin Collins – trumpet
