Concert Hall Manager of Turner Sims Southampton and Strategic Lead for Jazz South

Kevin programmes national and international jazz artists as part of of the annual mixed concert series at Turner Sims. This includes producing annual commissions and collaborations between high profile artists and Southampton Youth Jazz Orchestra. He brings wide-ranging strategic understanding of the music industry as Chair of the British Association of Concert Halls, Vice-Chair of Orchestras Live and previous Chair of Southampton Music Education Hub. Kevin represents Turner Sims and Jazz South as a member of the European Jazz Network and Jazz Promotion Network in the UK.

My background is a music leader and professional music therapist, and I’ve now specialised for 15 years in funding and strategic development for jazz, improvised and contemporary classical music, and music education at Creative Scotland and Arts Council England. I’ve supported artists and organisations with planning and applications,, and I initiated the advocacy organisation now relaunched as Jazz From Scotland. I’m particularly proud of commissioning  Serious to deliver Air Time, a talent development programme for creative jazz musicians living in Scotland.

Megija Petinena

Communications and Digital Marketing Assistant

Megija is a Second year English and Music student at the University of Southampton. After participating in countless musical endeavours in her home-country, Latvia, Megija moved to England to study and explore behind the scenes of the British music industry. She will be supporting the social media strategy for Jazz South with Sophie.

Sophie Wales

Communications and Digital Marketing Assistant 

As a pianist and lover of live concerts, Sophie is looking forward to developing and promoting jazz across the South.  Having had experience as previous Head of Music for Surge Radio at University of Southampton, Sophie hopes to further her knowledge and skills through this role.  She is eager to learn more about the jazz sector, and encourage students and members of the public to make the most of the variety of live music available at the Turner Sims.
